Jack Sparling (American, 1916-1997): broke into comics with the newspaper strip Hap Hopper, Washington Correspondant, which he drew from1941-43. From 1943-48 he drew the comic strip, Claire Voyant, and also began his comic book career. Over the years, the prolific Sparling worked for nearly every publisher in comics, including Charlton, DC, Dell, Fawcett, Gilberton, Harvey, Marvel, Parents Magazine Press, Atlas-Seaboard, Toby Press, Warren Publishing, Western, and Ziff-Davis. Some of the highlights of his comic book career include his work on the Challengers of the Unknown, Secret Six, Turok, Unknown Soldier, Eclipso, G. I. Joe, and Mighty Samson features. In 1960-72 he returned to syndicated strips with his work on the feature Honor Eden.
